Messers. Collard's Concert-room, Grosvenor-street, [London]. 1862. The firm of Collard and Collard ranks high among pianoforte-makers; and the increased operations of business consequent on their success have resulted in the Messrs. Collard opening a new establishment...so as to afford greater facilities to the fashionable and artistic world for inspecting their instruments...The saloons are of a spacious and highly-ornamental character, admirably adapted for the display of pianofortes...The prevailing style of architecture is the mixed Italian...The ceilings, designed by the celebrated brothers Adam, are alone worth a visit of inspection by connoisseurs of the decorative art, the judicious application of colour, under the masterly superintendence of Owen Jones, having greatly brought out and enhanced their original beauties...In a spirit of commendable liberality a magnificent saloon has been appropriated for a concert-room, which is gratuitously granted by Messrs. Collard for the use of artists, especially pianists, during the London season; and there is no saloon in the metropolis better adapted, from its acoustic properties, for musical effect, while the arrangements as to light and ventilation are perfect'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
