Medallic Portrait of Sir J. Franklin, by David, 1854....a medallic Portrait of the lamented Sir John Franklin, executed in bronze by M. David'. In 1845, British Royal Navy officer and Arctic explorer Rear-Admiral Sir John Franklin led an ill-fated expedition in an attempt to traverse the Northwest Passage.
