Marriage of the King of Portugal, by Proxy, with the Princess Stephanie of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, 29 April 1858. Princess Stephanie (1837-1859) married King Peter V of Portugal (1837-1861) by proxy in Berlin, Germany, her eldest brother Leopold standing in for the groom. She died of diptheria a year later in Lisbon, at the age of 22. From the Illustrated London News, 15 May 1858
