The late Mr. Henry O'Neil, A.R.A. 1880. Engraving from a photograph by the London Stereoscopic Company, of...this esteemed artist, who was also a writer of considerable originality and vigour...we cannot do better than reprint the notice of him which was written by his friend, Mr. Anthony Trollope. It runs as follows: On Saturday, March 13, died Henry O'Neil, Associate Fellow of the Royal Academy, a painter in former years of great reputation. His works almost reached the highest point of modem excellence; but it must be acknowledged that when he had reached that period in which men generally settle down to the work of their profession, he allowed his brain so to divide its efforts that the exertions which were sufficient for the one were unable to keep his name before the public in all. He was not only a painter, but a musician, and it may be doubted whether he best loved his palette or his fiddle...Latterly misfortunes came upon him, by no means from his own fault, and they who loved him grieved to think that he was doomed to suffer...He was never married, and when he is laid to rest at Kensal-green there will be buried one who was simple, just, and affectionate as a child'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
