We here engrave one of the best works by the prolific, versatile, and much-lamented sculptor, the late John Thomas...In this group...which has since been executed in bronze for the International Exhibition, Una is naturally and appropriately posed..."The kingly boast upon her gazing stood, " and thenceforward becomes her guardian and servant, whether she was waking or sleeping, till his noble breast was pierced by that fierce paynim, Sansloy. The "milk-white lamb" which accompanied the Royal virgin is well introduced: the "lowly ass, more white than snow, " on which she rode was of course not necessary to point this situation, and has been judiciously excluded'.
