Gaspar De Guzman Graf Von Olivarez, (1933). Creator: Unknown

Gaspar De Guzman Graf Von Olivarez, (1933). Portrait of Gaspar de Guzman, Count-Duke of Olivares (1587-1645), a favourite and minister of King Philip IV of Spain. He embarked on an unsuccessful attempt to recapture the Netherlands during the Thirty Years War, and this, together with his domestic policies that led to revolts in Portugal and Catalonia, brought about Guzmans downfall in 1643. From " Gestalten Der Weltgeschichte", a book of cigarette-card portrait miniatures of figures in world history from the last four hundred years. [Germany, 1933]
