Rare object, possibly a ritual knife used during shamanistic rites. The bronze handle is decorated with a geometric pattern and a crouching figure of, either a monkey holding his tail, or a human holding an oar. Boats and associated themes were common in figurative Dong Son art. Country of Origin: Vietnam. Culture: Dong Son. Date/Period: 500 BC - 300 AD. Place of Origin: Northern Vietnam.
