El Divino Pastor, (The Good Shepherd), 1660, (c1934). The image of the Good Shepherd was seen as a figure of Christ who saves and cares for his sheep, also an allegory of the Eucharist. Jesus resting his left hand on the sheep refers to the parable of the lost sheep in the Gospel of Matthew. Oil on canvas. Held in the Museo del Prado, Madrid.
