The Irish Rebels joyned with Cardinall Williams in Wales"...The interest which every good subject hath in the actions of the King and Parliament, is sufficient to defend him from the imputation of being a Busie-bodie, in maintaining the Justice of them, That, and my desire not onely to give satisfaction unto my countrymen in the most certaine intelligence that should come to my hands, but also to admonish (especially the City... "Mercurius Civicus: Londons Intelligencer, or, Truth impartially related from thence to the whole Kingdome to prevent mis-information" was a weekly newspaper which supported the Roundhead (Parliamentary) cause. Jose Maria Valles and Ribot, (Barcelona, ??1849 - Vallvidrera, 1911), Republican politician from Catalonia, a member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Catalonia. From his youth he was in the Democratic Federal Republican Party and in 1873 was elected Member of the Constituent Courts of the First Spanish Republic, was also the first president of the Federalist Center Barcelona, provincial deputy and co-editor of the Projecte constitucio catala per a l'estat (Draft constitution for the Catalan State) (1883), and represented several districts in the Catalan Cortes along successive legislatures

Last photograph of Abraham Lincoln, (1809-1865), 16th president of the United States of America, April 1865. Lincoln joined the Republican party in 1858 and was elected president two years later. In 1863, he proclaimed the emancipation of all slaves in the southern Confederate states and later that year restated his anti-slavery views in the Gettysburg Address. During his 1864 campaign for re-election, he embraced the abolition of slavery. He was infamously shot by actor John Wilkes Booth whilst attending the theatre in 1865.
