Duchess of Devonshire and Child, c1786, (c1912). Portrait of Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806) and her daughter Lady Georgiana Cavendish (Little G) (1783-1858). Painting at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. British portrait painter Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792) promoted the ‘Grand Style in painting, and was a founder and first president of the Royal Academy of Arts in London. He held the position of Principal Painter in Ordinary to the king. His work is held in galleries and museums around the world. The Madonna Del Cardellino, 1505-1506, (1911). The Madonna del cardellino or Madonna of the Goldfinch is a painting by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael (1483-1520). Mary, Christ and young John the Baptist holding a goldfinch in his hand. A 10-year restoration process was completed in 2008, after which the painting was returned to its home at the Uffizi in Florence. Oil on wood. From The Connoisseur Vol XXX.
