Napoleon's army returning in triumph to Paris on 25th November after their campaign that culminated in the decisive defeat of the Prussian Army at the Battle of Jena. The victory eliminated the Prussians from the alliance against France until 1813. Arc de Triomphe, Paris, late 19th century. One of the Parisian triumphal arches designed in Neoclassical style to recall the monumental architecture of Ancient Rome, the Arc de Triomphe was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to commemorate his victory at the Battle of Austerlitz.
