The Vickers-Armstrongs Walrus, 1941. The Supermarine Walrus, a British amphibian flying boat, was designed for use as a fleet spotter to be catapult-launched from cruisers or battleships. It also served as a rescue aircraft for aircrew in the sea, and continued in service throughout the Second World War. From "The Royal Air Force in Pictures", 2nd edition, by World War I flying ace Major Oliver Stewart. [Country Life Ltd, London, 1941]
