Faust Town in the Felsenreitschule, Salzburg, Austria, c1935. The Felsenreitschule (literally rock riding school ), built in a former quarry, was originally used as a summer riding school. From 1926 it was the setting for open-air theatre for performances of the Salzburg Festival. Fauststadt ( Faust Town ) refers to a 1933 production of Goethes " Faust".
