Farnborough Hill House, Hants. the new residence of the Empress Eugénie, 1881. The widowed consort of the Emperor Napoleon III. whose bereavement of an only son, as well as of a husband, brought her the respectful sympathy of the English people, has preferred still to reside in England. Her Majesty will always be sure of the kind friendship of our Queen and Royal family, and was lately on a visit at Windsor Castle. Having quitted Camden Place, Chiselhurst, where the Emperor died eight years ago, she has chosen for her future abode the mansion formerly occupied by the late Mr. Thomas Longman, head of the eminent London publishers firm, situate at Farnborough, in Hampshire...We may, therefore, anticipate that the Empress and our beloved Sovereign will often meet each other in that neighbourhood; and we trust that the invigorating air of the Hampshire Downs will preserve the health of the illustrious lady, who is now in the fifty-fifth year of her age, through the remainder of a long life, free from the cares and sorrows of her past career'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
