Framed Print of Drinking-fountain in the Regent's Park, 1862. Creator: Unknown
Drinking-fountain in the Regent's Park, [London], 1862. Under the direction of the First Commissioner of her Majesty's Public Works, the Hon. W. Cowper, a drinking-fountain has recently been erected in Regent's Park, from the design of Professor Westmacott, R.A. It was executed by Mr. J. Sherwood Westmacott. The structure consists of a tazza of black enamelled slate, 7ft. in diameter, resting on two steps of Portland stone, of which the lower is 11ft. square. On the tazza are two swans in electrotype, from whose bills the water is projected. Above these is a red granite column and base, surmounted by a female figure carrying water-vases, also in electroplate. This latter and the swans were electro-typed from the sculptor's models by Messrs. Elkington and Co. The tazza was executed by Mr. Magnus, of Pimlico. The entire height of the fountain is about 14ft'. From Illustrated London News, 1862. Heritage Images features heritage image collections. © The Print Collector/Heritage Images
