The vinegar works were established on the former site of Cupers Pleasure Gardens, which had operated between c1690 and c1760 just south of the future Waterloo Bridge. In 1810 Beaufoys moved to a new works in South Lambeth Road, leaving the Cupers Gardens site to serve as a base for bridge building
