Additional Info:A miniature of Christ in Majesty regally introduces the Canon of the Mass in this Ottonian sacramentary. The beginning of the text appears in the border of Jesus mandorla in gold letters: Te [i]gitur clementissime pater per Ih[esu]m xp[istu]m filium tuum d[omi]n[u]m nostrum (Thus you most merciful Father, through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord). In the illumination, Christ blesses with his right hand while holding a book in his left and resting his feet on a globe. The miniature recalls the silver-gilt figure of Jesus on the sacramentary's cover. Despite their different media, the figures share a similar monumentality. On a gold ground around Christ's mandorla, the evangelist symbols holding their Gospels turn from the corners towards Jesus. The winged ox represents Saint Luke, the winged man Saint Matthew, the eagle Saint John, and the winged lion Saint Mark. These figures derive from the association of the four evangelists with the four living beasts of the Apocalypse from Saint John's Revelation. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
