Bust of the late Mr. Bunning, City Architect, by Joseph Durham, F.S.A. erected at the City of London School, 1865. A memorial tablet and bust have been erected in the western entrance-hall of the City of London School, in honour of the late Mr. Bunning, City architect, whose professional services to the Corporation began with his design for that building...The monument consists of a white Carrara marble bust...The features are easily recognisable by those acquainted with Mr. Bunning, more especially in the earlier period of his career; and although the sculptor, Mr. Joseph Durham, was obliged to depend upon a photograph and upon recollection for guidance, he has given to this production of his skill an excellent likeness and a thoughtful and pleasing expression. The tablet bears the following inscription: Erected by the Corporation of London, as a tribute of respect to the memory of James Bunstone Bunning, Esq. F.S.A. who designed this school, and for upwards of twenty years was the City architect. He maintained through life a character for high professional talent, and left behind him an unblemished reputation and an honoured name. Born Oct. 1802; died, Nov. 1863'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
