Braemar, from the Garden of the Invercauld Arms, 1864. Creator: Unknown
The Scottish Highlands near Balmoral - Braemar, from the Garden of the Invercauld Arms, 1864. '...the Invercauld Arms, in the little village named Castleton of Braemar, [is] the head-quarters of tourists in that picturesque region of the valley of the Dee. The "castle" is a high, bare-walled tower of recent erection. The deep, rocky ravine, fringed with copses, through which the turbulent stream of the Clunie dashes down to join the Dee with the distant mountains, for the most part green and wooded, which surround this place, make up a very effective scene'.
