Berblingers attempt to fly across the Danube, 1811, (1932). German inventor Albrecht Ludwig Berblinger (1770-1829), also known as the Tailor of Ulm, constructed a working flying machine, presumably a hang glider. The attempt failed, but in 1986 it was proven that Berblingers glider was capable of sustained flight. However it is almost impossible to cross the Danube even with most modern gliders
