Wesleyan Central Church, Westminster, London, c1915. Creator: Unknown
Wesleyan Central Church, Westminster, London, c1915. The Methodist Central Hall was commissioned as a monument to mark the centenary of the death of the founder of Methodism, John Wesley. In common with all Methodist chapels it was built so as not to resemble a church. The winning design was chosen from 132 anonymously submitted entries in an open competition, and the building was completed in 1912. Formerly the headquarters of the Methodist Church of Great Britain, it is a multi-purpose venue which serves as a Methodist church, conference centre, art gallery and office building. Postcard
