The Ark Royal, (1931). The English galleon Ark Royal (1587) was originally ordered for Sir Walter Raleigh, and was bought by the crown for service in the Tudor navy. She was the flagship in English navys the defeat of the Spanish Armada, Later warships of the Royal Navy were named in her honour.
