Start of the Paris-Brest-Paris cycle race, 1891. One of the oldest cycling events in the world, Paris-Brest-Paris was first held in 1891. Its organiser was Pierre Giffard of Le Petit Journal newspaper. The event was won by Charles Terront, who covered the mammoth 1200 kilometre distance in 71 hours and 22 minutes.
