Saint Cosimo and Saint Damian, Patron Saints of the Barber-Surgeons, 15th century, (1948). Early Christian martyrs Cosmas and Damian were Arab physicians, reputedly twin brothers. They were martyred in Syria during the persecution of the Roman emperor Diocletian (284-305 AD).
