Queen Victorias Interest in the Search for Franklin: Her Majesty visiting the Arctic Ship Resolute, December 16, 1856, (1901). Victoria and her husband Prince Albert on board HMS Resolute which had been recovered after being trapped in polar ice in 1854 during an Arctic expedition. She had been looking for traces of John Franklins ill-fated Northwest Passage expedition of 1845.
