Prison hulk at Deptford, London, c1826. These convict hulks were an intermediate confinement between an ordinary gaol or transportation. Prisoners were used as labourers in the naval dockyards and can be seen here being taken by boat to their work. Hulks (tenders) were usually old naval vessels that were no longer seaworthy. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 archival quality photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (38x32cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang.
