Powis House, Great Ormond Street, Bloomsbury, London, c1714 (1878). The first version of Powis House was built in c1690 for William Herbert, 2nd Marquess of Powis. It was later used as the French Embassy but burned down on 26 January 1713. A new house was quiclky built on the site which was occupied by the Spanish Embassy from 1764 to 1783.
