The building of the Charles Bridge over the Vltava began in 1357 during the reign of Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. The bridge is built of stone, 516 metres long, and has 16 arches protected with ice guards. The bridge is flanked by two rows of statues, 15 on each side. A print from Signal, Febuary 1943.
