The Old Bridge at Croyland, Lincolnshire, 1894. Creator: Unknown
The Old Bridge at Croyland, Lincolnshire, 1894. The Trinity Bridge in Crowland (or Croyland) is a unique three-sided bridge dating from the 14th century that crossed the confluence of three streams running through the town. It was built to replace earlier wooden bridges, the oldest mention of which is by King Ethelbald of Mercia in 716. It is suggested that the figure represents Ethelbald.
