The Nassau balloon passing over Liege at night, 1836, (1886)
The Nassau balloon passing over Liege at night, 1836, (1886). Charles Green (1785-1870) built the Nassau balloon which he flew from Vauxhall Gardens in London to Weilburg, Nassau, Germany. It was the worlds longest flight at the time, travelling an estimated 480 miles in 18 hours. They flew over Canterbury and Dover, crossed the English Channel, passed over Calais, and Liege in Belgium before landing in Weilburg.
