Monument to Madame Soyer, in Kensal Green Cemetery, 1844. The tomb of British painter Emma Soyer, designed by her husband, French chef Alexis Benoit Soyer, at Kensal Green in north London. The...heroic figure of Faith...points with her right hand to Heaven, whilst, in her left, she holds the cross, symbolical of Christianity...On the upper portion of the pedestal are two cherubim...One holds a crown over the head of an effigy of M. Soyer...on a medallion of white statuary marble; whilst the other holds a branch of palm, emblematical of peace. The medallion is surrounded with a serpent, the emblem ot eternity.
Beneath the medallion are suspended a palette and the implements of the delightful art in which Madame Soyer excelled, surrounded with laurels. This noble monument was executed by M. Puyenbroach, of Brussels. From " Illustrated London News", 1844, Vol V
