Mohammed Alim Khan, the last Emir of Bukhara, 1911. The Emirate of Bukhara was established in 1785. Mohammed Alim Khan (1880-1944) claimed to be a direct descendant of Ghengis Khan. He ruled Bukhara as an absolute monarch from 1911 until 1920, when Bukhara was taken by the Red Army during the Russian Civil War. He died in exile in Kabul, Afghanistan.
