Magnificent Staircase of Grocers Hall and the Great Flemish Bell Named Martin, c1935. Staircase in the Hall of the Worshipful Company of Grocers, one of the twelve livery companies of the City of London. The building seen here was completed in 1893, but was almost completely destroyed by a fire in 1965. The bell in the foreground was cast in 1458 and originally hung in the tower of All Hallows Staining which was demolished in 1870. From " Wonderful London, Volume 2", edited by Arthur St John Adcock.
