Fancy dress party, with costumes from the Plantagenet period (c1154-1485), held by Victoria (1819-1901) at Buckingham Palace in London. Victoria is dressed as Philippa of Hainault (1314-1369), and her husband Prince Albert (1818-1861) wears the costume of King Edward III 1312-1377). After rejecting offers for peace during the Hundred Years War a great thunderstorm was seen as a bad omen by King Edward III, (1312-1377) who vowed he would no longer be an obstacle to peace. Edward III on the morning of Cressy, c1860, (c1860). The Battle of CrUcy, an important English victory during the Edwardian phase of the Hundred Years War. The battle was fought on 26th August 1346 near CrUcy, in northern France. An army of English, Welsh, and Holy Roman Empire troops led by Edward III of England engaged and defeated a larger army of French, Genoese and Majorcan troops led by Philip VI of France.
