Robert Orme (1728-1801) British historian who entered service of East India Company in 1743, appointed to Council at Fort St. George 1754-1758, he was instrumental in sending Robert Clive on a punitive expedition in 1757 to Calcutta, after the Black Hole incident of 1756.
