Tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus, 1933-1934

Tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus, 1933-1934. Halicarnassus was an ancient Greek city on the south-west coast of Turkey built on the site occupied today by the town of Bodrum. It is best known as being the site of the tomb of Mausolus, ruler of Caria from 377-353 BC, and his wife, sister and successor Artemisia. The tomb is better known as the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. A print from Wonders of the Past, Volume I, 1933-1934
