Flight of Sir Walter Tyrrel. Horse of the Period, c1860, (c1860). Walter Tirel III (1065-c1100), an Anglo-Norman nobleman. He is known for his involvement in the death of King William II (c1056-1100) of England. William II went hunting on 2nd August 1100 in the New Forest and was killed by an arrow through the lung, Walter Tirel and the party of noblemen fled leaving the kings body behind.
