Fire at Richmond, 1844. Creator: Unknown
Fire at Richmond, 1844. A crowd outside the Cricketers Tavern, Greenside, Richmond, west London:the policeman on duty, whilst going past the Cricketers, observed smoke issuing through the crevices of the shutters. He raised an alarm; and, on the door being forced open, the whole of the bar was found to be in flames. The engines soon arrived, but the flames had got such a hold of the building, that they were of very little use. From " Illustrated London News", 1844, Vol V
