Costume of the 14th century, (1910)
Costume of the 14th century, (1910). Male dress from the early reign of Edward III (ruled 1327-1377). The sleeve of the cote-hardi became continuous to the wrist, and bands of material were affixed to the sleeve just above the elbow, which hung down to about the knees. The first figure wears dagged pendant leaves of material round the hem - this fashion was introduced in about 1346. Illustration from British Costume during 19 Centuries by Mrs Charles H Ashdown, (London, 1910)
