Clumber Park, c1880. Creator: Unknown
Clumber Park, c1880. View of Clumber Park near Worksop in Nottinghamshire, once part of Nottinghamshires famed Dukeries. It was originally a monatery, and later home to the Dukes of Newcastle. It was rebuilt in the 18th century, but seriously damaged by a fire in 1879. Clumber was abandoned, and finally demolished in 1938. The park was used as an ammunitions dump during the Second World War. Frontispiece from " A Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain", Vol. II, by Francis Orpen Morris. [William Mackenzie, London, 1880]
