The arrival of Marie-Louise in Compiegne, France, 27th March 1810 (1882-1884)
The arrival of Marie-Louise in Compiegne, France, 27th March 1810 (1882-1884). The Archduchess Marie Louise of Austria (1791-1847) was the second wife of Napoleon. They married in 1810. Marie-Louises father, Francis I of Austria, favoured the marriage as he sought to strenthen links with France, while Napoleon was attracted by the legitimacy and prestige his empire would gain from a marital link to the Habsburgs. A print from La France et les Francais a Travers les Siecles, Volume IV, F Roy editor, A Challamel, Saint-Antoine, 1882-1884
