Amelia Bloomer, American feminist and champion of dress reform, 1869. Amelia Bloomer (1818-1894) pictured wearing her new dress for women. This was the original from which Rational cycling dress for women grew. She is probably best remembered for the type of womens undergarments that she designed and are named after her, but was also an active campaigner for womens rights, including suffrage
