Affaires Etrangeres, Gabriel Hanotaux, French statesman, 1896. Hanotaux (1853-1944) was French Foreign Minister from 1894-1898. His colonial policies in Africa were instrumental in causing the dispute between Britain and France known as the Fashoda Incident that occurred in 1898.
