A (Real) German Defeat, 1870. This cartoon shows the Princess Louise and her betrothed, the Lord of Lorn (John Campbell). For the first time, a Royal Princess was being permitted to marry a subject rather than a member of one of the European royal families. Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached.
