The 16 inch guns of the battleship HMS Rodney, 1937

The 16 inch guns of the battleship HMS Rodney, 1937. Launched in 1925 HMS Rodney was the sister ship of HMS Nelson. The design of the ships was unusual in that all their main guns were sited forward. Both ships saw action in World War II, with Rodney involved in the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck. Cigarette card from The Navy series, produced by Senior Service Cigarettes, 1937
