The style is old English, with ornamented gables, bay windows, aud other picturesque features The edifice, backed by the lovely, forest hills of Charnwood, will be a very effective scene...The extensive Schools [are] about to be erected, on a scheme approved by the Court of Chancery, from the funds left for charitable uses, in 1498, by Thomas Burton, a merchant of the staple, a resident, and, it is believed, a native of that town [Loughborough]'.
