The women in uniform are wearing replica prison clothing and prison number badges, paying tribute to the members of the suffragette movement who had been imprisoned. Ada Flatman (1876-1951) is second from the right in the photograph. She was herself an ex-prisoner, having served one month in Holloway Gaol for her presence on a deputation to the House of Commons in the autumn of 1908
